Baby Seal cupcakes

The first male seal pup born at the Aquarium of the Pacific was born in May and last week the Aquarium invited me to watch him move into his new home in the Seal and Sea Lion Habitat!

His name is Toby and he seemed to take to his new home with ease. To celebrate the momentous occasion I made little baby seal cupcakes. I’m sure that if Toby had a choice they’d be fish flavored but these tiny chocolate and vanilla will have to do for the humans eating them. Good luck to Toby and congrats to the Aquarium of the Pacific on their new little addition!

ingredients:
mini cupcakes
vanilla buttercream
chocolate/black frosting

Fill a piping bag with vanilla buttercream. No tip necessary, just pipe a large dollop on top of each one.

Using an offset spatula, smooth down the tip to a flat surface.

Ready the black frosting in a piping bag with a #2 tip. To start, pipe a tiny heart in the center of the cupcake.

Swoop down and out on both sides from the center of the heart.

Add two big dots on both sides of the nose for the eyes and whiskers on the sides of his face.

Simple! Easy to make little baby seal faces!
