O.G. + Royal T Mother’s Day event

The O.G. + Royal/T Mother’s Day event was a big success!

Lots of people, lots of food and so much fun!

I was really surprised and happy by how many people stopped by! Friends, family and so many new faces.

As usual Royal T served wonderful Sunday brunches. I love the whole menu and just for the event – special justJENN Mother’s Day tea sets! Two words: TINY. BURGER.

Of course there had to be cupcakes. Milk Tea cupcakes with a mascarpone whipped frosting…with an edible O.G.!

Lots of kids took part in the craft making and the free photo booth.

It was a great day and it was wonderful to be able to talk to so many nice people. Thanks for coming out to the event and for all the support! And a special thanks to Royal/T Cafe who was so generous and did so much – they planned everything and I didn’t even have to lift a finger! It’s always been one of my fave places in L.A. for food, art and fun!

You can buy the new O.G. comic/cookbook “O.G. – favorite recipes” now available online!

Sanrio’s 50th anniversary party

When Sanrio decided to put together a book Celebrating 50 years of Sanrio showcasing vintage items, who do you think was one of the people they called? Yep. Me. Hm…maybe they think I’m a Hoarder. Anyway, it was a good call because I DO have lots of vintage Sanrio stuff from the 1970s & 80′s, some of which made it into the book! (more on that, here.)

To kick off the celebration Sanrio held a V.I.P. opening night party and pulled out all the stops. There were foodtrucks there: Kogi, Grilled Cheese Truck, Frysmith, just to name a few. Then inside Barker Hangar…

…was a kawaii fest. A mini golf course, ferris wheel, carnival games, cars – all Hello Kitty-fied. Total. Cuteness. Overload.

There was an amazing art gallery – all with custom pieces just for this event.

Also a pop up shop of tons of Sanrio product.

Since it was opening night there was a red carpet and loads of celebrities.

Lisa and Laura Ling, Lisa Loeb, Simone Legno of Tokidoki, Pete Wentz – those were just a few of the people I saw. For me, the highlight was being able to talk to Kimora Lee Simmons – I bumped into her at the pop up shop and we had a nice conversation about our kids, how she has two girls and a boy and I have two boys. Very cool. Also, I look like a midget standing next to her. She is amazing.

The Food Librarian also went and her highlight was meeting Erik Estrada. The night was pure craziness. This from someone who rarely leaves the house at night. Now I know what all of L.A. does while I’m sleeping. They party hard.

More on the food.

Inside the event I nearly fell to the floor when I saw free Beard Papa’s cream Puffs. About 1/3 the size of their regular ones, that still didn’t stop me from going for a few of them. Hey they’re making them, I’m eating them.

Next to that was a free Sanrio themed Yogurtland station, complete with toppings. I’m now a big fan of the chocolate and red velvet cake. It was GOOD and just too cute.

There were lots of cool cosplayers and people dressed in AWESOME homemade outfits, like my friend Renee. Hi, Renee!

While I didn’t dress up, I got a lot of compliments on my shoes:

If you lllllove Hello Kitty and Sanrio this is the place to be! You only have til Nov. 21st to visit Small Gift L.A., I highly suggest you stop by, it’s non-stop kawaii fun!

Want Hello Kitty recipes? Hello Kitty Oreos, Hello Kitty waffles, Hello Kitty cupcakes.

Cupcakes and comics – sneak peek

Tomorrow night is the big event – Cupcakes and Comics at the Comic Bug! I will have my whole line of stationery there and of course, cupcakes!

Mini cupcakes will be free, but these? Well, take a sneak peek at these bad boys…

Yes – those are cupcake toppers. Yes, they are edible and yes…I carved them by hand. These specialty cupcakes will be free WITH a justJENN designs purchase!

I will also be debuting my series called “Superheroes & Sweets” which is based on whatever the Baby tells me. He says Wolverine eats donuts, you’ll just have to take his word for it.

Stop by and give the Comic Bug some love! Hope to see you there!

‘Childhood Inspired’ cupcakes

I think it’s about time I retired these ‘sleeping baby’ cupcakes, as I tend to make them A LOT. However, for the Cupcake Camp O.C. amateur competition – they fit right into the theme of ‘childhood inspired’ cupcakes!

Since the cupcake were supposed to be memories of childhood, I used the sleeping babies and put them on a bed of Ovaltine cupcakes – that seems like what you’d drink to help yourself nod off for a good night’s sleep.

I topped them with a cream cheese frosting, and of course the baby blankets were made out of Starburst that I rolled out by hand – another childhood favorite!

I then made little signs of the babies dreaming happy dreams…

The babies looked great – and the crowd of over 800+ people (!) seemed to love them! I put out 48 cupcakes, turned around and literally they were gone in SECONDS! Wow!

Cupcake Camp O.C. was a great event for a good cause and though I didn’t win, I still made the TOP THREE!! I was so happy to be a part of it and can’t wait for the next one!

Cupcake Camp O.C. this weekend!

This weekend I will be donating prizes AND cupcakes to Cupcake Camp O.C. A charity event at the Atrium Hotel – 18700 MacArthur Boulevard in Irvine, Sunday August 1st from 3-6pm.!

I will be baking and also entering the baking competition, stop by for a good cause!
