WWYE: What would YODA eat? – Strawberry Pocky
The Kid requires a lot of snacks. Snacks for kindergarten, snacks for daycare – he’s a growing boy. I try to give him one healthy thing (fruit, carrots) and one treat. Strawberry Pocky was a good go to since he had a chocolate allergy – and they sorta look like lightsabers too.

WWYE: What would YODA eat? – kalbi ribs
Getting the Kid to eat meat is tough. He doesn’t care for it, but he’s becoming iron deficient. It’s not that he won’t eat it altogether, he is just particular about the meat he chooses to eat. One that I can always count on is kalbi. The sweet of the marinade that gets caramelized on the grill makes it hard to resist. I cut it off the bones, and chop it into super teeeeny pieces. It seems the larger cuts of beef just don’t do it for the Kid, it has to be bird-size.
I always serve it with a little rice and this time I put in some edamame, just in case he decides to go on an anti-meat strike at least there’s something else too.
WWYE: What would YODA eat? – Star shaped ham and cheese
Apparently Yoda’s off the carbs, because it’s just pieces of ham and cheese today, tho – in star shapes, of course. It’s amazing how just 2 minutes with a small cookie cutter can make the world a cuter place.

WWYE: What Would YODA Eat? – faux-cargots
Food that looks like something else is fun, but maybe not when it’s snails. I love these faux-cargots cause they crack me up – but the concept of a roll-up or wrap is nothing new. They are perfect for packing in a school lunch and the Kid loves anything in a tortilla!

WWYE: What would YODA eat? – spam musubi
Depends on who you ask, spam could be the grossest thing in the world, or the best. I’m sort of in between. I find it horrifying, yet I would eat a spam musubi now and again. Mostly because it’s been drowned it in soy sauce and sugar. The kids really love them. Of course, the baby takes off the rice and just eats the spam, the Kid enjoys the rice. Together they make one pretty good eater. ~sigh~

WWYE: What would YODA eat? – mochiko chicken
Mochiko chicken is DEELISH. Then again I love mochi, so I like to use mochiko in everything. Soup, cupcakes, waffles, you name it. Mochiko chicken is typical Hawaii meal – I like to add a little garlic to mine and also cut it up into tinier than bite sized pieces. It really marinates full of flavor that way. Like most fried chicken it tastes GREAT cold, so leftovers make a fantastic lunch. Yoda thinks so, anyway.

WWYE: What would YODA eat? – meatballs
Since the Kid has been complaining about the quality of his lunch (read here) I’ve been trying my best to change it up. I’ve been documenting what’s worked with the help of Yoda. Actually I just think it’s funny to take pictures of him lording over meatballs.
Brown Sugar Meatballs recipe, here.
