Star Wars Chewbacca Donuts
If you follow my twitter or instagram you already know I talk about donuts and Star Wars more than one human should, so why not combine the two? This Friday is National Donut Day and when it comes to inspiration, you better believe I Let The Wookiee Win!
With over 40 Star Wars recipes on this blog you’d think I’d be running out of ideas, instead Star Wars continues to inspire me more and more each day. I took my favorite donut: the Maple Bar, and transformed it into Kashyyyk’s most famous co-pilot.
Just like Chewbacca, I’m always thinking with my stomach.
Star Wars Chewbacca Donuts
Ingredients:
Maple Bar Donuts
black frosting
white frosting
chocolate frosting
Instructions:
Start with a pre-made Maple Bar donut and try not to eat it. This was the most difficult part of the recipe for me.
Use a #5 tip, pipe black frosting for Chewie’s eyes and nose.
With a separate piping bag using a #2 tip pipe the white frosting in a zig zag pattern for the wookiee’s teeth.
For the bandolier use a #7 tip and pipe a long, thick strip of chocolate frosting diagonally across the donut. Come back in with the white frosting and pipe squares down the two opposite sides of the strip.
Let the frosting set, and serve!
Suggestion: I used a strip of bacon for the bandolier (some I frosted with the white squares, some I did not, depending on the texture of the cooked bacon)–turned out GREAT!
Thanks for the idea!
