My cousin loves bacon. So I thought I’d surprise her by NOT cooking with bacon, but making something sweet. I have to say the Vosges Mo’s Bacon Bar by itself – kinda gross. But swirled into a nice vanilla ice cream…? ALL GOOD.
ingredients:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 (3oz) bar Vosges Mo’s Bacon Chocolate Bar
Chop up the bacon bar and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream and the milk. Gradually whisk in the sugar until blended.
Whisk in the vanilla. You can refridgerate it if you want, or use it right away.
Pour into an ice cream maker and freeze for 15 minutes. Take the chopped up bacon bar and add it to the machine – still in motion. Let the machine freeze for another 5-7 minutes.
Transfer to a container, I like to use these paper ones so that I can make my own labels. The ice cream tastes just like a chocolate chip one would…you’d not even notice the bacon, but that’s the fun part!

Bacon ice cream! I keep hearing about this! I’ve got to try it! This was the first randition I’ve seen with the chocolate in it. I just can’t imagine what’d taste like!
What an interesting flavor of ice cream! Although it sounds weird, I think I would like chocolate covered bacon. I love other salty things with my chocolate such as pretzels and chips. So why not bacon?
Oh yeah baby…
Part of the fun of writing a bacon blog is that people send you links. Within the last 24 hours three people have pointed me here. Branding, it’s a fun thing.
One thing I like about your recipe is that you are not using freshly cooked bacon, which might just render a greasy texture into the ice cream.
Anyway, yum!
I make my own ice cream all the time and have been searching for paper pint-sized containers. Where did you get yours?
