Death Star Pizza Pockets

You thought you saw it all when it was May the Fourth, I have news for you – today is Revenge of the Fifth!

I love Williams Sonoma Star Wars cookie cutters, from vegan Jawas to bling’ed out droids, the possibilites are endless. When the Empire gets hungry they don’t order take out, they make their own pizzas in the shape of a moon. Wait. That’s no moon!!

ingredients:
pie dough
marinara sauce
mozzarella cheese
pepperoni, diced small

egg wash (1 egg whisked with 1 Tablespoon water)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Make it thin but make sure the dough has enough give to stretch. The Star Wars cookie cutters are great because they make perfect impressions and generally don’t stick. If the dough gets too soft, just put it in the fridge for a few minutes.

For every Death Star cut out you also need to cut out a circle to match. This will serve as the bottom of the pizza pocket.

Place the plain circles on the prepped baking sheets and top with a spoonful of marinara, then cheese, then pepperoni. Careful not to overfill or they will seep out of the sides.

Now take the Death Star cut outs and place them carefully on top of the filling. Push the edges to close, no need for pinching, just press firmly.

Brush the tops with the egg wash. Bake for 25 minutes, depending on your oven, until just browned. Let cool on a wire rack.

Just ask Vader, it is useless to resist…these pizza pockets.

    Hi Jenn! Fun recipe!
We just celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on the 4th! We did not know it is Star Wars day! And this year’s was extra special because we also threw a Star Wars birthday party for our kids who just turned 6 and 4, so everybody kept talking about that and asking us if we picked may 4th for our wedding on purpose! I saw the Star Wars trilogy for the first time a few years after I got married, and learned about the national Star Wars day a couple of years ago, and you are the one to blame for that as I was reading one of your posts! I own the cookie cutters too (love them by the way!) and have made your recipes, this Saturday all our guests had wookie cookies, c3po sugar cookies, yoda cookies ( I bought the green tea powder just for this recipe) and the darth Vader chocolates, a lot of them! Thanks for the inspiration, my kids’ birthday party was a huge success! May the force (and the 4th!) be with you!
