The emails and comments I get the most are ‘I love your fondant work but I’m afraid to try it.’ I get it. It can be daunting. So I’ve been trying to come up with other cupcake decorating ideas that take no fondant work at all. (like the Princess Leia cupcakes!)

So when I went shopping for her Oreo headpiece – this goes to show how often I buy store-bought cookies (i.e. never) I bought the WRONG Oreos. What. These things were thin, not even half an Oreo. They should just call them OR.

So I stashed them away for later and lo and behold, I realized that they’d make perfect Domo heads. I’ve made DOMO out of fondant, out of MEATLOAF - sweet or savory, he seems to be my greatest muse.

ingredients:

chocolate dipped Oreos
strawberry fruit leather
white frosting
black frosting
frosted chocolate cupcakes (recipe, here)

Cut the fruit leather into a rectangle. Domo’s mouth is rather large and takes up about half of his head, so keep that in mind. Using a dab of frosting on the back, place it on the lower half of a chocolate dipped OReo.

Using white frosting pipe teeth, the top row, then the bottom.

Then using black frosting pipe the two large round eyes.

Place some frosting on the back for extra stickage, and place them on your cupcakes! Too easy, right?

Scare your children, delight your nerd friends! Now you can make Domo cookie heads to your heart’s content!

**I made these for the Not at NYCC event and sent them over, I hope they liked them!
