Season of the Force, Star Wars coming to Disneyland in November

Star Wars Land is still years away but Disney said they’d somehow incorporate Star Wars in the parks before the end of the year and now they’ve made good on their word! It has been announced that on November 16 the Star Wars roll out begins!

There will be four new Star Wars themed additions to the park and here are some details:

Star Wars Launch Bay – This new area will offer opportunities to visit with favorite Star Wars characters, special exhibits, peeks at the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and much more.

Inside the Launch Bay you can choose your destiny with special character experiences. Go for the Light Side inside a makeshift Rebel base, where you can take part in a meet and greet with everyone’s favorite walking carpet, Chewbacca. Or my personal choice, the Dark Side, where you can hang with the one and only, Darth Vader.

There will be themed galleries: the Dark Side Gallery which will display authentic pieces of stormtrooper armor and Sith lightsabers. The Light Side Gallery, which will be filled with Rebel flight helmets and Jedi Knight lightsaber. The Preview Gallery will showcase props from Star Wars: The Force Awakens while the Starship Gallery will display models of famous starships and their pilots.

Gamers will enjoy the Star Wars Game Center where you can play the latest games from the Star Wars galaxy, including Disney Infinity 3.0. Infinity fans will be excited to play with park-exclusive Toy Box levels.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – This popular attraction will feature a new scene inspired by the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple – Coming in December, a twist on the Jedi Training experience will introduce new characters and a new villain from the popular Disney XD series, Star Wars Rebels.

Hyperspace Mountain – For a limited time, guests will join an X-wing starfighter battle in this reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction.

In addition to those experiences there will also be showings of classic Star Wars scenes in the Tomorrowland Theater. My absolute favorite part, in November we will start to see integration of Star Wars themed food and beverage in the park! I could go for some Blue Milk Ice Cream right about now. I can’t wait to see all the great themed food they come up with. Look for even more merchandise and entertainment especially around the holiday season when Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.

Season of the Force will also be debuting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, with a date to be determined.

Here comes the sad news for Disneyland fans, to make room for the new Star Wars-themed land, the Rivers of America and the Disneyland Railroad to close temporarily. On January 10, the following attractions will suspend operations: all stations of The Disneyland Railroad, all attractions along the Rivers of America, including: “Fantasmic!”, Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes. Also Big Thunder Ranch, Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree, will all close permanently. So get your BBQ on one last time before the end of 2015!

Here’s to an exciting Star Wars-themed end to 2015 and beyond!
