The Dark Side…of Egg Salad

Welcome to the Dark Side…of egg salad.

Even a Dark Lord needs to eat lunch and egg salad is the obvious choice, in fact I’m almost positive it’s the official sandwich of the Galactic Empire. An egg looks an awful lot like the Death Star, just sayin’. This egg salad is particularly evil because it gets it’s kick from a hefty dose of Tapatio. A pain so delicious it hurts.

If you’re going to eat this, make sure you use an napkin. Even Siths have manners.

ingredients:
9 boiled eggs (no-fail boiled eggs recipe)
3 Tablespoons mayonnaise
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
2 Tablespoons pickle relish
1/4 cup diced celery
1 Tablespoon Tapatio hot sauce
salt
pepper
King’s Hawaiian sweet bread (or any soft bread)

egg salad shelling

Using the ‘no-fail’ method, boil your eggs and cool them. Then use a Jedi mind trick to make him do your bidding and get a small child to shell them for you. Let’s hear it for child labor.

Once shelled, rough chop the eggs and place them in a medium bowl along with the mayo, mustard, relish and celery. Toss to combine.

Right now, the egg salad is just egg salad but here’s where the punch comes in. Tapatio is so spicy and delicious, it adds a great flavor to the creamy eggs. Fold in the Tapatio being careful to not break up the eggs. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

vader bread

Star Wars cookie cutters are so versatile you can use them for everything! Using the Vader cutter, cut Vader heads out of the soft bread and toast. Once toasted, the image with become clearer.

I like to use King’s Hawaiian bread because the sweetness cuts the heat of the Tapatio and adds a nice toasty crunch to the soft egg salad.

Sandwich the egg salad between two toasted Vader heads and serve this quickly, because the Imperial Troops are hungry!

    Hi Jenn
That is probably one of the coolest ways to make an egg salad sandwich EVER. I love Star Wars and this would be great just to eat myself or during a Star Wars marathon. I really like the touch of Tapatio, definitely have to try that next time too.

  3. Let’s hear it for child labor! Whoo hoo! Be sure to add lots of Rooster Sauce to kamaboko too. – mary

I bought a bottle of that a few months ago and loved it, but it was so spicy. I think the skin on my tongue is too sensitive. Or maybe the eggs just round it out. I think I put it on something weird like a baked potato.

    Love the Darth Vader!

  6. Oh my gosh, my boys would freak if I served them a sandwich that was Darth Vader’s head. They would love it! Your egg salad sounds so delicious!
