Walt Disney World Sleepy Hollow Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich

Generally, I’m a Disneyland gal, it’s my home base. Walt Disney World is great too, but it’s more of a destination. Not only is it a haul to get there, but travelling around isn’t as easy as walking from park to park like Disneyland out here.

However, there’s one thing that does stand out at Disney World, and that’s the food. They do an amazing job of creating different foods specific to each park. Whether it’s the themed foods at Epcot’s World Showcase or the outstanding way they cater to food allergies throughout the resort, in that sense WDW is lightyears ahead of Disneyland.

There are certain Disney World foods that are so craveable, I plan my whole trip around eating them. And I mean you have to take a bus, monorail, or boat, just for a taste—told you getting around WDW isn’t easy.

One of those things is the Sweet and Spicy Waffle Chicken Sandwich at Magic Kingdom. Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square is basically a Belgian waffle stand, and people line up for their deliciously sweet, fruit filled waffles and funnel cakes. But for me, hands down it’s where I buy my favorite WDW world food: the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich. I love it so much, I decided to recreate my own version.

The best thing about this homemade version is that you can alter it to our own taste. If you like it more on the spicy side, add even more garlic chili oil at the end. Go nuts! You can find chili oil in Asian markets, but I noticed that Trader Joe’s has jumped on the bandwagon with their own version. I can attest, both are great! If you’re scared of heat, don’t worry, just leave it out.

Looks like this is as close as I’m going to get to Walt Disney World anytime soon. Sigh. Now how do I recreate the Citrus Swirl…
