What Is Disney Tsum Tsum and How To Play
Look, I can admit when I have a problem. *cough* donuts *cough* and my newest obsession is definitely a problem. Disney’s Tsum Tsum game is addicting times 20. If the cute little faces don’t suck you in it’s the pure joy of trying to attain the goal of getting the ultimate Tsum.
Disney’s Tsum Tsum app store debuted this summer in the US, originating a Japan as part of the Line social app. FYI it’s pronounced “soom soom” NOT “sum sum”, the word is Japanese based, after all. The Tsum Tsum premise is simple, tsum means stack in Japanese and these little adorable faced Tsums stack in random order and you must get rid of a chain of three or more at a time simply by swiping away. Easy right? It would seem so until you realize that time is ticking and the pressure’s on!
You start by making a Tsum playing choice (each character has different skills), always try to eliminate your that playing Tsum first so that you can reap the benefits of that particular Tsum skill. In other words, when that Tsum goes golden in the lower left of your screen, pop it for full effect!
Everyone approaches the game differently. Some people go for the highest score possible, others go for the most coins so that they can buy new Tsums. Me, I’m mad for combos. Combos are time based and the faster you break the chains, the combos add up. Hesitate for more than a second and your combos go back to one. Bummer. My highest number of combos is 90 which means I was working pretty hard in the hand eye coordination department that day.
Fever Time and the Fever Bar is when you garner the most points and it’s when you should work your dexterity skills to the fullest. The faster you crack chains of tsums, the higher all your points, coins, combos will be. Take advantage!
If you hit 10,000 coins you can buy a new Tsum but why not hold out for a premium Tsum at 30,000 which offer more advanced skills and let’s me honest, they’re pretty cute. Most of them are Pixar characters or even some deep cut characters that are purely for hardcore Disney fanatics.
Here’s the kicker, of course Disney has gone all out with the tie ins and sell Tsum Tsum plushes to complete your Tsum life! From the tiniest of tiny to medium tsums and the large ones, they are beyond adorable. The tiny ones are my favorite and they also double as screen cleaners! These plush Tsums are so popular they sell out almost the minute they debut. Some are available online but they selection is quite limited. Now they’ve expanded Tsum characters to bags, phone cases and why yes, I think I do need a Tsum Tsum lamp. Who doesn’t?
The Tsum Tsum app is free and the best part about it is if you sign in through a Line account you can add friends! Not only is it friendly competition but you can exchange hearts (lives) with each other. Believe me, it’s a necessity when you find yourself out of lives around midnight and get the shakes because you need to keep on tsuming. Hm…maybe just me.
Try it out and see if you become addicted and see Tsums falling in your sleep like I do! Friend me on Line, my id is: justjenndesigns, have fun and Tsum on!
