Star Wars Kylo Ren Emoji Cookies

Every year Julie at The Little Kitchen hosts her annual Good Cookies Food Bloggers’ Valentine’s Event, where food bloggers show their support by helping to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancers for Cookies for Kid’s Cancer.

This is a cause close to my heart, as cancer has affected a few of my loved ones this year. Using baking as a way to raise awareness is right up my alley, so I’m happy to contribute any way I can.

Since this fundraiser benefits kids, I always try and incorporate Star Wars into my recipe. This year I created Kylo Ren cookies with a fun twist, heart eyes to make a Kylo Ren edible emoji. He’s never as happy as when he’s in cookie form.

If you like my recipe, consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer fundraising page. Our goal is to raise at least $3000 because these three companies: Dixie Crystals, Mediavine and OXO have each pledged to match our donations raised through this campaign up to $3000!

Let’s make a difference kids battling cancer and bake some delicious cookies while doing it.

Star Wars Kylo Ren Emoji Cookies

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1-1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla

you’ll need:
Kylo Ren cookie cutter
icing
large red heart sprinkles

Instructions:

In a bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla until combined.

Add the flour mixture until combined. When it pulls away from the sides of the bowl, the dough is ready.

Wrap up the dough in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats or parchment.

Roll out the dough to 3/8-inch thick, and use a floured cookie cutter to cut out shapes.

Place the cookies on the prepped cookie sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.

When the cookies are cool, use icing to secure two jumbo heart sprinkles over Kylo Ren’s eyes.

Once the icing is dry the cookies are ready to serve.
