A Better Way To Make Musubi

It’s always nice to find a friend with the same interests, it means that when it comes to gift-giving they just totally get you. So when my birthday rolled around this year The Food Librarian gave me a gift that we both found extremely useful and interesting, a mass-production Spam musubi maker.

Every holiday season she and I both have huge traditional Japanese parties—hers for mochi-making and mine for Japanese New Year—and both of them involve lots of cooking. When you’re cooking for 20-50 guests, mass amounts of Spam musubi is bound to be consumed. This new contraption makes that production line go a whole lot more quickly.

This equipment allows you do it as you would with a single maker, just 9-times as fast. I did some research and found out it’s made by a family run company called Ko Craft, it’s a pretty ingenious idea for anyone (like me) with a big family from the islands. You can even buy the Mo Bettah Musubi Maker on amazon. Now that’s really ingenious.

Now I make musubi with abandon, bring on New Years! Actually don’t, I need to make it through Thanksgiving and Christmas first.
