Adam WarRock cupcakes
Eugene Ahn aka Adam WarRock left his life as a lawyer to pursue his dream of being a ‘comic book nerdcore rapper’. That sounds like the best dream ever.
He is making his rounds across the country performing at comic book conventions and comic shops, and this week he hit the West Coast. The West Coast is the best coast, you know.
To celebrate his West Coast invasion I made personalized cupcakes for his show at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood, one of my favorite stores. They have a large selection and host some amazing shows and events – including featuring my ZOMBIE cupcakes at the Buffy the Vampire Slayer birthday party!
I’m always looking for different ways to do cupcakes toppers, I’ve experimented paper, fondant, cookies and even lollipops. I’ve been wanting to try edible ink and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I wanted it to look like the album covers were strewn about on top of the cupcake. It didn’t come out exactly how imagined, but it worked.
I had the images printed by a local bakeshop – they used edible ink onto a fondant-like surface.
Once the backing was removed…
I simply applied the layer onto the frosted cupcake. Perfect!
The edible ink was awesome! Crystal clear, I just loved how the images turned out. Props to Aaron Diaz, Benjamin Birdie, Casey Pugh, Chris Haley, Dylan Todd and Jarrett Williams whose artwork was printed for the cupcakes – and to all the amazing artists who did Adam WarRock cover art!
The show was fantastic! The crowd was really into it. He did a lot of his ‘geeky’ well known songs like ‘Ira Glass’ (which was featured on the Public Radio Blog) and a few songs from his West Coast Avengers mix tape – which of course is my favorite because I love old skool West Coast rap.
A fun night in Hollywood with good friends and excellent music!! WestCoast4Life!
