Art Frame cupcakes
Just last year I was making Hello Kitty Bow cupcakes for my friend’s daughter and now she’s turning nine! This year they decided to have an art/crafting party. That sounds like the coolest thing ever, I want a party like that for *my* birthday!
‘Make something arty’ were my instructions and I was so excited – you’d think I was the one turning nine. Since it was just a few girls I wanted to make the cupcakes special.
I got these cute picture frame molds which have a nice detailed edge. I melted some white chocolate (why white? Wait for it…) and filled the molds.
Then I turned them out. Perfectly detailed!
Using a clean paintbrush I applied edible pearlescent color dust to the edge of the frame. This edible bling (yes, I own edible bling) adds just the right pop to the chocolate frame.
Then I used edible ink markers and wrote each girl’s name in the middle of the frame. Personalizing things always makes kids feel super special.
The frames came out great and were fun to make. The best part is that everything is edible and each girl got their very own personalized treat!
Can you tell me where you purchased the picture frame molds? Can the mold be purchased on the internet?
thanks for your help –

@Tim I bought them at my local baking supply store but you can also find them on amazon: http://amzn.to/HjW8UF
I’m nervous about using molds made of plastic and not silicone. How do you keep them from breaking when popping out the chocolate?
