AT-AT Cookies
Today is May The 4th, a day to celebrate all things Star Wars! A day when watching the movies, cosplay or any sort of celebration is encouraged and my choice is obviously to always celebrate with food! Star Wars and food is definitely my calling. I find so much inspiration in the Star Wars universe, I have a backlog of over 40 recipes and more to come.
When I made Doctor Who Weeping Angel cookies the gray dough was an inspiration because it looked just like an AT-AT’s battle armor!
When I saw this cool AT-AT cookie cutter from Things4Thinkers on etsy, I knew that AT-AT cookies were a must. I decided to kawaii them up a bit so I added a little heart to show my love of Star Wars. These sweet cookies are simple to make and impressive, most impressive. May The 4th Be With You!
AT-AT Cookies
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Super Black food gel dye
large pink heart sprinkles
Instructions:
In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until combined.
Add the egg and vanilla and just one drop of black food gel dye. You want to make sure the dough is gray and not too dark.
Add the flour mixture, then turn the mixer on high until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Separate the dough into two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the fridge.
When you are ready to make cookies preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep cookie sheets with silpats.
Roll out the dough to 3/8″ thick and cut out the cookies. You may need to flour the cutter. Move to the prepped sheets and cut away the negative space of the dough between the legs.
Bake for 10 minutes and let cool on a wire rack.
Once cooled secure a large heart quin with frosting and serve!
