Baby Boy Shower Cupcakes
I make a lot of baby shower cupcakes, usually using Starburst as baby blankets and sometimes there’s even a lightsaber or two. The cupcakes are always a hit at showers because who can resist eating an adorable baby made out of candy and cookies?
This seems to be the year of the babies, I personally know of 7 people giving birth in the next few months! So when I was asked to make shower cupcakes I was happy to oblige, but this time the request was for a blue and green theme. I’ll admit his threw me for a loop a little because obviously Starburst doesn’t come in blue or green. Never fear, my love and knowledge of candy came through and I thought taffy would be an ideal substitute. It turned out to be the perfect color and texture!
Little cookie head babies peacefully sleeping under blankets of blue and green taffy. Just like real babies, right?
Baby Boy Shower Cupcakes
Ingredients:
frosted cupcakes
Mini Nilla Wafers
little pink heart quins
black frosting
marshmallows
blue and green taffy
Instructions:
Using a #2 tip, pipe faces using the black frosting onto the Mini Nilla Wafers. Use a heart quin for the mouth.
Cut a marshmallow in half and lay them in a ‘T’ formation on top of the frosted cupcakes. One side will be the pillow for the head, the other will be the body under the blanket. Use another dollop of frosting to secure the Nilla Wafer ‘heads’ onto the top marshmallow.
In a glass bowl, microwave two pieces of unwrapped taffy for only 6 seconds. You just want to get a softer consistency. Use a rolling pin to roll out the taffy to a size of a blanket to cover the bottom marshmallow.
Now your cupcake babies are ready to serve!

Hi Jenn.
Love the sleeping babies. What kind of black frosting did you use for their faces? Was it a tube you buy at the grocery?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I just make my own black frosting buy you can def use the grocery store tubes if you’re more comfortable!
