Baked Potato bar
In an effort to get the kids to eat AND make meals fun, I thought I’d make dinner interactive. I made baked potatoes and had a little toppings bar. There weren’t a lot of options, but it made them feel like they had a choice in the matter. But you, YOU can have all the options your heart desires…
ingredients:
potatoes
olive oil
kosher salt
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Prep a baking sheet by lining it with foil, then placing a cooling rack on top. This will elevate the potatoes.
Wash and scrub the potatoes then pat dry. Rub olive oil over the skin and sprinkle the kosher salt all over the oil rubbed potatoes. Place them on the rack on the prepped sheet pan and bake for one hour.
After an hour your potato is all done. Stick a fork in it, it’s done. Literally! Put out the toppings and let people customize their potatoes!
toppings:
shredded cheese
broccoli
tomatoes
salsa
olives
chicken
bacon
guacamole
sour cream
chili
mushrooms
shrimp
Whatever makes you happy…me, I like to make a BTC. Bacon. Tomato. Cheese. YUM.
After seeing this post yesterday, I realized I haven’t had a baked potato in AGES! So tonight, my boyfriend and I are planning to make them, and we got lots of fixins, so they’re sure to be good. I agree with you about the skins, too; they’re my favorite part!
We loved baked potato night when my guys were little. We always included blanched broccoli floret “trees” ~ a great way to add vegetables to the landscape!
I like to cook mine on the BBQ
I like to load mine with lots of cheese and bacon. All types of cheese its like a nacho potato it really good.Try I promise you won’t regret it.(at least I don’t think you will) 🙂
