Batman Batcycle Cake
I was at my local cake decorating shop when stopped in my tracks – how could I not buy such an amazing cake topper? 1. It’s Batman. 2. It’s a working toy. 3. It’s Batman. But they showcased it on a boring old sheet cake and I knew there had to be a better way. Plus it would be the ideal centerpiece for Thanksgiving. Nothing says Thanksgiving like Batman.
The Baby was born on Thanksgiving and given last year’s turkey cake debacle I decided to take birthday cake matters into my own hands and do it myself once again. Through the years I’ve made the Baby Elmo Cupcakes, a Batman Gotham City cake and even a Godzilla cake. I knew this decoration would be the perfect return for the Caped Crusader.
I made two 9″ round cakes, cookies and cream flavor – the Baby’s favorite. I stacked the cakes with a layer of chocolate frosting in between.
I eyeballed about 2″ from the outside edge for the ‘road’ layout.
Angling down, I carved the road down the outside of the cake.
Using chocolate frosting I frosted a crumb coat, then went back in for a thick layer.
I used more crushed Oreos for the outside wall of the cake, then placed the cave entrance and the Batcycle on the cake.
This Thanksgiving I’m thankful for the Baby…and Batman.
