Beauty and the Beast: Strawberry Rose

In Beauty and the Beast there are so many expressive curiosities in the Beast’s castle, but the most wonderous of them all is the rose under glass. The enchanted rose holds the spell that keeps prince as the Beast and if the rose’s last petal falls on his 21st birthday, he will remain a beast forever. These edible fruit roses aren’t flowers at all, they’re cut strawberries that make the ideal place setting for an enchanting dinner party!

A few small cuts with a paring knife and the berry is transformed into a sweet, delicious rose. Place it under a small glass globe and it becomes a beautiful appetizer for every party guest.

Beauty and the Beast: Strawberry Rose

Ingredients:

large strawberries

you’ll need:
paring knife
small glass domes

Instructions:

Place the strawberry on a sturdy cutting board and cut off the stem. Place flat side down. With a small paring knife make four cuts at the base of the strawberry, being careful not to cut all the way through the berry.

Above the slices, cut just kitty-corner just above where the slices meet, again being careful not to cut all the way through.

At the very top, use the point of the knife to cut in a circular motion, lifting out a small piece of the center.

Gently peel the slices out just a touch to make it look like the flower is in “bloom.”
