Brown Sugar Meatballs
This dish is a big crowd pleaser for parties and one that I make for almots every event. The fact that it’s just four ingredients, a flip of switch and your done makes it the best party recipe ever.
But say you still want a tasty weekday dish, just half or quarter the recipe and you have a quick and easy weekday dinner with basically no prep. It doesn’t get easier than this.
Brown Sugar Meatballs
Ingredients:
2 bags frozen meatballs
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
black pepper
Instructions:
Put the meatballs in the crock pot, add the brown sugar and ketchup, stir to coat. Season with pepper.
Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Could this be done on the stove? I don’t have a crockpot. Any suggestions?
Sure it can be done on the stove. Just precook the meatballs – browned in a pan, then baked is best – then do the same layering bit, but in a large covered pan, on low for about 30- 45 mins.
My mother (and than me) has made a variation of this recipe for years. It is awesome. We add lemon juice and a few pieces of crystalized ginger to the sauce. We actually let the sauce simmer for a while than just dump it on the meatballs. I do not acutally measure the ketchup and brown sugar, but go by color and taste ( the sauce is on the browner side). I always make the meatballs from scratch, I think they are better that way. Now I am craving them.
I don’t measure either, but people get REALLY PISSED if I don’t write down the correct quantities!!
Thanks! I may try these tonight. Yummy!
These were so good! They remind me a lot of the ones I used to buy at Gelsons. Thanks for the recipe!
[…] Came home from work exhausted, made dinner, watched TV, then fell asleep before 11:00. That’s […]
My mom makes these in the oven and they are amazing! Great recipe!
These are so easy to make, and so goooood its ridiculous! I served em’ up with some homemade mashed potatoes (kinda like instead of meatloaf, bf hates it LoL) It was awesome : )
This looks delicious! Thanks for sharing:)
Thanks for the recipe…the kids really enjoyed them…I had to tell my little pirates to eat the other food items…not just the meatballs.
Thumbs up…I give it a 5 star….!!
Do I need to cook the meatballs before putting them in the crock pot (Im making my meatballs from scratch)
This was delicious! It smelled a bit too peppery for my likes but tasted just great. Thank you.
Would it be safe to say 32 oz is the average amount per bag of meatballs?
