Chewbacca and Baby Yoda BFF Hug Cookies
Baby Yoda love is still going strong in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. He now has a name, Grogu, and his adventures are just beginning.
With the finale coming up I wanted to bring together my two favorite muses into one adorable cookie. Chewbacca has always been my favorite inspiration for food, followed closely by Baby Yoda, so why not combine the two into one adorable dessert.
I’ve previously made The Mandalorian and The Child Hug Cookies, and Wookiee Holiday Hug Cookies, so it just made sense to have a Chewie cookie holding onto a fondant foundling. Where are these two BFFs headed? Who can say. I’m guessing they’re off to get two tall glasses of Blue Milk.
Chewbacca and Baby Yoda BFF Hug Cookies
Ingredients:
For the cookies:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
You’ll need:
Black icing
White icing
Green fondant
Pink taffy
Black fondant
Instructions:
Step 1: In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
Step 2: In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and brown sugar until combined.
Step 3: Add the egg and vanilla, then slowly add in the dry ingredients just until the dough comes together.
Step 4: Split the dough into two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill until you are ready to use.
Step 5: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats or parchment paper.
Step 6: Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut and press the shapes, then transfer them onto the prepped baking sheets.
Step 7: Place a piping tip in the center of the cookie. Carefully fold the arms over to grasp the piping tip.
Step 8: Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, slowly slide out the piping tip.
Step 9: Roll a small ball of green fondant to form the Child’s head. Add icing on the back to secure, and place in the Chewbacca cookie’s arms. Add a tiny piece of fondant for the nose.
Step 10: Pinch two small pieces of green fondant to form long tear drop shapes. Add these to both sides of the ball to form the ears. Secure with icing.
Step 11: Create the same tear drop shape with pink taffy for the ear details.
Step 12: Use black fondant to make two small balls to form the eyes. Place onto the head, securing with icing.
Step 13: With a #4 tip and black icing, add the eye details. Then use a #4 tip and white icing to add the teeth.
Step 14: Once the icing is dry, the cookies are ready to serve.
