Chocolate Bunny Cookies
Easter is a time for chocolate bunnies and a cookie version can be just as fun and delicious!
To make this chocolate bunny stand out, I gave a slight whimsical bend his ear to get a cute floppy look.
Serve these fun buns up for your Easter dessert buffet!
Chocolate Bunny Cookies
Ingredients:
you’ll need:
black frosting
white frosting
large heart quins
cookie ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with parchment or silpats.
In a bowl, whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla until combined.
Slowly add the flour mixture until incorporated.
Separate the dough into two pieces and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until you are ready to use.
Roll the dough onto a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick. Use a bunny cutter to cut out shapes and transfer to the prepped baking sheets.
Bend one of the ears down, pressing it into the dough to give the bunny a jaunty look.
Bake for 10 minutes and let cool on a wire rack.
Use two large heart quins and one small one to make the bow tie, securing with a little bit of icing.
With a #2 tip and black and white icing, add the face details.
When the icing is dry the cookies are ready to serve.
Super cute!
Awww the folded little ear really makes these!
Where did you get this cute bunny cookie cutter?
@Nicole I found it in a cooking store a while ago. :/ Most stores have bunny cutters around Easter though!
