Chocolate Chip Shortbread Hearts
I’m normally not a fan of shortbread, my sweet tooth runs a little more on the sugary side. But since so many people I know adore shortbread, I find myself making it quite often. Shortbread is a great recipes to whip up especially since you don’t need milk or eggs, dessert in a pinch is always the best.
These lovelies are shaped like hearts and are studded with mini chocolate chips. just to give them a little extra love.
Chocolate Chip Shortbread Hearts
Ingredients:
you’ll need:
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
shortbread ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats or parchment.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch and salt.
In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar. Stir in the vanilla.
Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
Pat out the dough onto the prepped baking sheet, a little less than 1/2 an inch thick.
Bake in the oven for 15-17 minutes, until just browned on the edges. Remove from the oven and immediately cut out the heart shapes using the cookie cutter. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool.
