Cinnamon Sugar Donuts
This Friday is National Donut Day so of course I had to do a test run of donuts all weekend! Mini anything ALWAYS tasted better and cinnamon and sugar can’t be beat.
I love to bake up a batch of these little sugared donuts – the kids love them and sometimes even tiny ninjas try to steal them…
ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of salt
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
1 egg
2/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
topping ingredients:
3 Tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep a donut pan by greasing it with butter. Set aside.
In a bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
Make a well and add the maple syrup, egg, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir together until just combined.
pour the batter in a pastry bag or a plastic bag with the end cut off. Squeeze the batter into the pan approx 2/3 full.
Bake for 12 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.
While the donuts are cooling stir together the cinnamon and sugar topping.
Dip the donuts into the melted butter, then the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Eat, share and serve!
I’m having a cup of coffee right now…. and these donuts would be a PERFECT pairing! YUM!
