Dulce de Leche cupcakes
Inspiration comes from weird places. I was in the IKEA food section when I saw these ‘toffee laces’. I thought they’d make cute bows for the top of a cupcake – especially one filled with delicious DULCE DE LECHE. They came out looking just like little presents, the perfect gift for friends.
ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk
Dulce de leche
buttercream
toffee laces
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Prep a muffin pan with paper liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the sugars and butter. Add the eggs and vanilla until combined. Alternate the flour mixture with the milk until you get a nice smooth batter. Spoon into the liners equally, about 2/3 full.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, depending on your oven. They are ready when an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack.
Once cooled, hollow out a hole in the center of each cupcakes, using a knife. Spoon prepared dulce de leche into the hollowed out hole. Frost with vanilla buttercream to cover the filling.
I tied the laces into bows – like you would a shoelace. The laces add a cute touch and make the cupcakes look like little sugary gifts!
laced up lovelies – you have such a good eye!
You are soooo damn creative. You kill me. Perhaps it will rub off on me this weekend.
And when are you making lingonberry cupcakes? 🙂
Super cute! You could even do them with Twizzler-type laces for other color/flavor schemes (though they might not taste as good as these!).
Can you tell me where you purchased the cup liners for your cupcakes?
@Shirley
I got mine at a local cake decorating store here in Los Angeles. I know you can find them online, I’m just not sure where…sorry!
OMG Jen, you did it again. You WOW’d me! These Cupcakes are not even from this Realm! And I only made the basic Recipe without the Dulce de Leche or anything else (didn’t have anything but the Cupcake Recipe on Hand…Shame on me!)
I will definitely try it with the Dulce de Leche next Time. Once again….WOW!!
wow,loved every recipe , you are a genius .
greetings from argentina ♥
Where in the world do you get this dulce de leche? I’ve seen it several times during my browse and i’m salivating. 😉
I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours these days, yet I by no means found any fascinating article like yours. It is pretty price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made just right content material as you did, the net will be much more helpful than ever before.
