Everything You Need To Know About Disney’s Star Wars Land

It’s the day Star Wars fans have been waiting for since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, finally we are getting a Star Wars Land! At D23 Expo this weekend CEO of The Walt Disney Company Bob Iger talked about plans to bring Star Wars-themed lands to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.

14-acres of pure Star Wars, that’s roughly the size of the current Cars Land! The concept art is stunning and gives you the feeling that you’re right in the middle of the Star Wars universe. Iger unveiled images for a Millennium Falcon attraction that includes customized secret mission on the Falcon itself. Can you imagine being able to ride the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy? To Anaheim in less than 12 parsecs!

Since putting together two highly detailed 14-acre lands is no easy feat, it’s going to take some time. To appease fans in the meantime there are plenty of other Star Wars enhancements and experiences headed towards the parks.

Star Tours will be getting an update to include a new adventure featuring locations and characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The extremely popular Jedi Training Academy will be updated with a new experience that includes new characters and a new villain to battle from the popular Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels. You know what that means…do you feel it? The Inquisitor is coming.

In addition to updates, Star Wars will start making it’s way into everyday park life with Star Wars Launch Bay. This experience is interactive and will take park guests into the world of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Located in the Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and in Tomorrowland at Disneyland, you can look forward to Star Wars character meet and greets and special merch (my favorite). All this excitement will be available as soon as the end of this year, just in time for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Believe it or not that’s still not all the Star Wars Land news! Finally, in the beginning of 2016 Disney is rolling out Season of the Force. Guests will be able to enjoy special entertainment and themed food locations. WHAT. Star Wars themed food! Yes, they mentioned Blue Milk. Not only that, Space Mountain will be given a makeover and turned into Hyperspace Mountain, where guests get to join an X-wing Starfighter battle. The speed of Space Mountain makes this a perfect match for Star Wars themed entertainment. In Florida, guests will enjoy weekend fireworks set to the iconic score of Star Wars music.

Whew, that’s a lot of information to take in, but it’s all starting immediately! We will get to start enjoying many of these upgrades within a few months. Until then follow my page on StarWars.com and may the Force be with you!
