Firestar cupcakes

Sometimes you just know you’re meant to be friends with someone, usually it’s when you find you have the same love for a certain bit of pop culture or in this case, a comic book character.

I knew that my friend Sarah and I were supposed to be friends when I found out she loved Firestar as much as I did. We reminisced about the same exact episode, and the same exact scene. “Angelica Jinx” will forever be burned in my brain.

Man, that Bonnie was a jerk. And possibly a stalker.

Not an original comic book character, Firestar made her debut on the tv series Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends. I used to watch it with my brother, who loved Spider-Man, and I was excited to see a cool female superhero be a vital part of a small team. She finally became comic book canon in the Marvel Universe in the late 80s.

Of course they don’t sell Firestar pre-made items for cupcakes so I had to make my own. I printed out the image of Firestar with edible ink on edible paper an placed them on Fudge Covered Oreos.

Using a #4 piping tip, I piped a trim of bright blue frosting, then placed them on top of the frosted cupcakes.

The cupcakes came out great. How awesome would it be to have real Firestar Oreos, though? Get on that, Marvel. There’s a market I’m sure of it.
