Freddy Krueger Halloween Cookies

Ingredients:

You’ll need:
Freddy Krueger cookie cutter
White icing
Black icing

Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
Pink food gel dye

Instructions:

In a bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar. Add the vanilla and egg. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined.

Separate the dough into two. In one half mix in the cocoa powder, in the other mix in the pink food gel dye. Wrap the brown and pink doughs separately in plastic wrap. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats or parchment.

Roll out the pink dough to 3/8-inch. Flour the cookie cutter and cut out the dough. Use a paring knife to cut along the hat, leaving Freddy’s face behind. Place the faces on the prepped sheets.

Roll out the chocolate dough to 3/8-inch. Flour the cookie cutter and cut out the dough. Use a paring knife to cut along the hat, this time discard the face. Align the hat along the top edge of the previously cut out pink faces to make one complete cookie. Do this with the rest of the dough.

Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool slightly before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.

With a piping bag and a #3 tip, fill in the whites of Freddy’s eyes. Using a #3 tip and black icing, add the pupil to the eye.

Once the icing has dried the cookies are ready to serve.
