Free Comic Book Day cupcakes
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event where the first Saturday in May your local comic book shops give away comics all day for FREE! It’s a way to get new readers into the store and interested in comics. The events are always packed, crazy and a whole lot of fun.
Every year FCBD seems to grow and the line seemed never ending. What you shouldn’t forget is that all the shops PAY for those comics that they give away, so it’s nice to not only pick up your free ones, but also buy from the store and the vendors they invite. It’s not a requirement, just a courtesy to say thanks for hosting such a great event.
As a thank you to the shop for inviting me down I made cupcakes and they gave them out to the best cosplayers in line. True, the lines were long but it was worth it to get all your free comics in the end. Hopefully a lot of new fans were made that day. It was a crazy, fun event and I encourage everyone to go support your local comic book shop!
Free Comic Book Day cupcakes
Ingredients:
cupcakes, baked and frosted
candy melts
white frosting
edible images
sanding sugar
you’ll need:
lollipop candy molds
lollipop sticks
edible printer with edible ink
Instructions:
Melt the candy melts according to package directions and pour into lollipop molds. Set in freezer for 5 minutes, then pop out.
Print out the images in edible ink on edible paper and cut to size.
Place the images on the lollipops, then using a #3 tip, pipe an outline around the lolliop in frosting, then dip in sanding sugar.
Place in the cupcakes to serve.
