Friday I’m In Love: G&B Almond & Macadamia Milk Capp

It’s Friday I’m in Love: things that I adore on a particular week. Not an ad, just a place for me to talk about what I love at this very moment. What I’m eating, buying, loving.

Years ago in architecture school most of our projects were centered around ‘what ifs’ as far as revitalizing downtown. We spent days, weeks, combing the streets measuring and photographing buildings. A lot of my research down time was spent in Grand Central Market. I loved the hustle and bustle of downtown but the market seemed like its own little bubble of chaos and commerce.

After a few major overhauls, these days the Market is filled with new artisanal vendors, sriracha mayo’d sandwiches are right at home next to pupusas and chili powdered fruit. It’s an eclectic mix and a big part of what makes LA so wonderful.

G & B coffee is one of those new vendors. They are also the proprietors of Go Get Em Tiger in Larchmont, one of my favorite coffee shops in LA. Like that concept, G & B in Grand Central is a coffee “bar.” No waiting in line for the barista, think more old timey saloon but with macchiattos.

Contrary to my instagram, most days out of the week I try to eat a vegan diet. I will tell you right now the while G&B coffee ice cream shake is truly to die for, alternatively it’s their vegan Almond and Macadamia Milk Capp that is exceptional. The flavor was praised by the New York Times as the “Best Iced Latte in America” and it’s the absolute truth. Hot or cold, you won’t find a smoother more completely rounded cup coffee. Even non-vegans can’t resist the use of almonds and macadamia nuts and dates for sweetness, just try it. Your non-vegan mind will be blown.

Head over to Grand Central Market, sidle up to the bar, order your capp and watch the world go by. It’s a perfect day in LA.
