Friday I’m In Love: Art of Ian McGinty

It’s Friday I’m in Love: things that I adore on a particular week. Not an ad, just a place for me to talk about what I love at this very moment. What I’m eating, buying, loving. More of my faves here.

If you’re a fan of comics one of the coolest things you can do is get your favorite artists to draw you a sketch on a blank variant cover. They are usually offered at cons or signings and it’s a neat way to get your own custom piece of artwork featuring the characters you love.

Recently my kids helped intro the lastest episode of BOOM! Studios webseries Buzz on BOOM! and The Baby got a special variant cover of Adventure Time drawn by Ian McGinty!

It was especially meaningful because The Baby has been spending a lot of time drawing and recreating his favorite comic book characters. So this artwork was particularly inspiring and very special.

From Bravest Warriors to Hello Kitty, Ian McGinty’s artwork is comforting and cute! One of my favorite covers of McGinty’s is a variant cover Adventure Time #25, an exclusive for Emerald City Comic Con featuring Finn as the baby from the cover Nirvana’s consummate album Nevermind. A nice nod to Seattle and downright adorable.
