Friday the 13th Jason Cookies

Truth be told I’m not a fan of horror, I scare pretty easily. But I have lots of friends who love the genre and every year my friend Dorina throws an epic Halloween party, and I try to bring appropriately themed treats like Freddy Krueger cookies. While I know it’s not Halloween yet, to go along with those literal nightmarish cookies, these Jason Voorhees treats are perfect for today: Friday the 13th.

Who knew they made haunting Friday the 13th cookie cutters? It’s a good thing they do, it may be July but Halloween is right around the corner but these will make frightening treats any time of the year.

Friday the 13th Jason Cookies

Ingredients:

you’ll need:
Friday the 13th cookie cutters
black icing
red icing

cookie ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions:

In a bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and the sugar. Add the egg and vanilla.

Add the flour mixture until combined. When it pulls away from the sides of the bowl, the dough is ready.

Wrap up the dough in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.

Roll out the dough and use the cookie cutter to cut out shapes.

Place the cookies on the prepped cookie sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.

Using a #3 tip and black icing, pipe the dots on the mask.

Then with the red icing and a #3 tip, add the rest of the mask details.

Once the icing is dry the cookies are ready to serve.
