Frozen Olaf Cookies
If there’s one thing I love, it’s Disney. I get so much inspiration from Disney, especially in baking. I had a great time making Anna and Elsa cookies, winter seemed like the perfect time to tackle Olaf cookies! Or would summer have been better, hm.
These Olaf cookies are simple, plain sugar cookies with just a hint of detail to bring out his features. Minimum work for maximum Frozen fun! This adorable Olaf cookie cutter is from Francesca4me on etsy.
Frozen Olaf Cookies
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla
black icing
white icing
orange icing
brown icing
Instructions:
In a bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and the sugar. Add the egg and vanilla.
Add the flour mixture until combined. When it pulls away from the sides of the bowl, the dough is ready.
Wrap up the dough in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until you are ready to use.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.
Roll out the dough to about 3/8 of an inch. Detailed cookie cutters always need a little help so make sure you always dip it in flour before each use, then press down to get a clean impression.
Place the cookies on the prepped cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.
Once cooled use a #5 tip and black icing to pipe the eyebrows and pupils.
Use a #5 tip to fill in Olaf’s tooth with white icing.
With a #7 tip add a pointy nose with the orange icing.
Then with a #7 tip and brown icing add bits of his hair.
Finally, fill in the details of Olaf’s mouth with black icing.
When the icing is set the cookies are ready.
