Geeky Conversation Hearts
Valentine’s Day is split, people either love it or hate it but one thing’s for sure, geekdom will keep us together. Conversation hearts arrive every February 14 but they’re often chalky and dullsville.
I thought I’d make my own version but make it easier by just piping Royal Icing hearts. Sweet, yet simple and since I was making them custom, I added the geekiest of sayings to them, making them all the more special. Happy geeky Valentine’s Day!
Geeky Conversation Hearts
Ingredients:
4 cups powdered sugar
3 Tablespoons Meringue Powder
5 Tablespoons water
pink food gel dye
red food gel dye
edible ink pens
Instructions:
In the bowl of an electric mixer beat the powdered sugar, Meringue Powder and water until still peaks form.
Separate the icing evenly into three bowls. Leave one bowl white, dye one pink and the other red.
Scoop the icings into three separate piping bags and pipe heart shapes onto parchment paper. Let air dry overnight or until hardened.
Using the food pens, write sayings onto the hearts. The geekier the better! You can use these on cakes, as cupcake toppers, or give them to your favorite nerf herder just as they are.
