Harry Potter Birthday Party
My friend’s daughter Skylar is a huge Harry Potter fan and When I heard she was having a wizarding-themed birthday, I think I was more excited than the kids attending! I knew that her very creative parents would put on a show to remember.
To kick off the festivities, all the kids were invited by letter delivered by owl post! Well, not exactly but close, Skylar and her mom went door to door to hand deliver scrolls attached to owl-balloons for all the invited guests. What a treat!
The day of the party as attendees arrived they were greeted at the door by a brick wall, of course it was no ordinary brick wall, it was the porch made to look up like King’s Cross Station, Platform 9-3/4. Obviously the party started at 11am sharp, otherwise how else would you enter?
Once inside guests entered the Great Hall, aka the dining room. Where Skylar’s parents had strung up floating candles, decorated the chairs and tables with Harry Potter dishware, candles and owls. It was ready for the feast to begin!
Moving on to the next room there was a Gringott’s station because of course you need to take out some gold coins to make purchases at the nearby Honeydukes. The tables were filled with candies for the guests to take home, from Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans to cockroach clusters, there was one disgustingly delicious treat after another.
There was also an Ollivander’s, where Skylar’s very clever parents crafted wands from scratch using just paper, hot glue and spray paint. I have to tell you, considering they were just made of rolled up paper, these wands looked and felt exactly like the real thing.
Skylar’s dad put on a very scientific potion show, creating fantastic mind-blowing experiments out of baking soda and a few real tricks.
The guests moved on to the big screening area where the one that started it all, The Sorcerer’s Stone was screened for all the little wizards to see. After the movie they were treated to Harry Potter cupcakes made by yours truly. I topped the cupcakes with sparkling Harry Potter cookie logos, chocolate frogs and the most popular, the edible Golden Snitch!
This party was one of the best planned kids parties I’ve ever seen and Skylar’s parents did a fabulous job. It’s a fact, Skylar won’t need a rememberall, this was definitely a party she won’t soon forget!
Amazing!!!
We were there to experience it. The party was fabulous! we loved seeing how the children really got into the whole experience especially the potions and candies.
What a wonderful party and such creative parents. The smile on Skylar’s face is priceless.
Good job! Cute ideas. Always need more of those!
Any chance you can share where you got the colorful bottles/beakers?
Love it all.
Thanks
