Hellboy Cupcakes
It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the first appearance of Hellboy hit the comic book stands. Mike Mignola’s Hellboy has thrived over the years and even produced two movies starring the one and only Ron Perlman as Hellboy himself.
To celebrate Hellboy’s 20th anniversary The Comic Bug was having an epic release party for the Hellboy Artist Edition. There was a gallery of Mike Mignola’s original art that was so stunning, I kept going back to look at his line work over and over. To celebrate this momentous anniversary it was obvious, Hellboy cupcakes were a necessity.
Hellboy’s red appearance and sawed off horns along with his oversized right hand are iconic images that make him unique. Where a normal person might see filed off horns, I see raspberry gummy coins. Seeing everything through candy eyes has it’s perks, the world is a lot sweeter.
You can’t have Hellboy without the B.P.R.D. So I took some chocolate dipped Oreos and piped the logo on top. “In Absentia Luci, Tenebrae Vincunt.” In the absence of light…dark chocolate cupcakes triumph? I’m pretty sure that the B.P.R.D.’s motto. Well, it’s my motto anyway.
I love the cover of Hellboy in Hell #6 where there’s an Ace of Hearts card on Hellboy’s sleeve, so I added some heart top cupcakes to complete the set. It’s a sweet, sweet Hellboy world.
