Hello Kitty Star Wars: Hello Yoda Cookies

Yoda is a Jedi master but add a red hair bow and and suddenly you have the kawaii mashup you never knew you needed. A friend was having a Hello Kitty Star Wars birthday party and considering those are two of my favorite things, I jumped at the chance to create something unique when it came to desserts.

These Matcha cookies are flavored and colored naturally with green tea and while they look just like Yoda on their own, add Hello Kitty’s signature eyes, nose and hair bow and he’s transformed into the sweetest Jedi this side of the Outer Rim.

These adorable cookies can be made as regular sugar cookies or vegan however you feel the Force wills it.

In a bowl whisk together the flour, Matcha powder, and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla until combined.

Add the flour mixture until combined. When it pulls away from the sides of the bowl, the dough is ready.

Wrap up the dough in plastic wrap. Refrigerate until you are ready to use.

Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thick, and use the Yoda cookie cutter to cut out shapes.

Place the cookies on the prepped cookie sheets.

When the cookies are cool, use a #4 tip and black icing to pipe her eyes, a #4 tip and yellow icing to make her nose. Add whiskers with a #2 tip and more black icing.

Using a #5 tip and red icing, secure two jumbo heart sprinkles, point to point on the upper right corner of Yoda’s head. Use the icing to place a smaller heart sprinkle in the middle to complete the bow.

Once the icing is dry the cookies are ready to serve.
