Horchata Donuts
The Kid loves horchata and I’ve taken his favorite drink and made it into everything from pancakes to cupcakes. It makes total sense that the sweet, cinnamon taste would translate perfectly into donuts!
Baked in the oven these little donuts come together so fast you’ll find you’ll want to eat them right out of the oven. Hold on, the horchata glaze is what puts it over the top. An horchata lovers dream!
ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
1 egg
2/3 cup horchata
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
glaze ingredients:
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 Tablespoons horchata
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep a donut pan by greasing it with butter. Set aside.
In a bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the egg, horchata and vanilla. Stir together until just combined.
Spoon the batter into the pan approx 2/3 full.
Bake for 12 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.
While the donuts are cooling stir together the powered sugar and the horchata to make the glaze.
Drizzle the glaze over the donuts and serve.
