Kim Chee Pizza
Sounds gross? I hear ya. But if you like spicy stuff, this is for you! I made it for my family’s ‘pizza taste test’ and they all loved this one.
Ingredients:
1 (12-inch) ready-made parbaked pizza crust
1 container pizza sauce
1 1/4 cups chopped kim chee
1/4 lb sliced pepperoni
1/2 lb mushrooms, thinly sliced
1/2 cup sliced olives
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup parmesean cheese
Start with a pre-made parbaked pizza crust, much like a BOBOLI, but I got mine at Trader Joe’s. It’s in the bread aisle called “Herbed bread.” This makes really tasty pizza. Or you can always make your own dough if you have the time.
Cover the crust with pizza sauce, then pepperoni. This makes a fairly good base to hold the next layer, which is the Kim Chee. The liquid can seep through and make for a soggy crust. So try to chop and drain the Kim Chee thoroughly.
Now start layering the rest of the ingredients, olives, mushrooms, ending with the cheese. Obviously these are just suggestions, anything you want to put on would be fine. Whatever goes with…kim chee? Yikes.
Bake for 10 minutes at 425 degrees, and you’re ready to eat!
I literally laughed out loud when I saw this recipe. Ironic since me being Korean put kimchi on EVERYTHING and I have put it on plain cheese pizza before and thought it was delicious (my mom thinks I’m insane). I wouldn’t touch the store bought stuff though… Maybe If I was forced to live hundreds of miles away from my mom… It just looks really watered down (tsk tsk kimchi makers) but this recipe is really neat and I will definitely be trying this soooon 🙂
p.s. I love your blog and feel the need to blog… about your blog 😛
