King’s Hawaiian Mahalo giveaway!

King’s Hawaiian launched Project Mahalo as away to say thank you to deserving charitable organizations by awarding them large donations to help their cause. To celebrate the winner they held a big family style Lei Day luau! The main focus of Hawaiian parties is always the food, where you can pile your plate high with local dishes and this party had all the favorites!

Plate lunch dishes are no joke. Hearty and filling sesame chicken, Kalua Pig, Orange Chicken and Ginger Crusted Salmon are all components of the ultimate plate lunch.

Sometimes starters and side dishes are the stars of the show: mac salad, rice, ramen salad, poke and of course, King’s Hawaiian rolls!

One item I couldn’t get enough of was the crab and artichoke dip with toasted King’s sliced bread. The crab was brought in just for that dish and it was amazing!

No party is complete without dessert and King’s bakery is the best! There was an amazing array of desserts, some I’d never seen before and that’s saying a lot since I go to the bakery whenever I can!

King’s Hawaiian bread pudding, kona coffee creme unbrulee, key lime pie and carrot cupcakes. What really caught my eye were the parfaits…

Not our typical parfaits, these were versions of King’s popular cakes in elegant form. Layers of cake and frosting in small individual bite sizes. Their famous Paradise Cake looked beautifully layered in the clear dish.

A Hawaiian favorite, the dobash cake – was an ingenious idea for a parfait, after all the combination of chocolate cake and dobash pudding frosting makes an easy transition into a mini trifle.

There was a big King’s cake with a congratulatory printed image. I love King’s printed image cakes, I’ve had them make many a cake with O.G.’s picture.

The desserts do NOT end there. There were tiers upon tiers of chocolates, truffles, Hawaiian baklava, Passion Fruit macarons and even mochi! I was so thrilled to see my favorite food represented! Homemade mochi always makes an appearance and every celebration and these were homemade and absolutely perfect!

It was an unusually warm day so Hawaiian Iced Tea and local favorite POG (passion orange guava) really hit the spot.

If you are dreaming of a taste of the islands I don’t blame you! In the spirit of King’s Hawaiian Project Mahalo I encourage you to give back in your own communities and I am going to give you a chance to win a little bit of aloha spirit!

Enter to win by tweeting, liking my facebook page or leaving a comment! Each is one entry. The prize package includes a King’s Hawaiian apron, reusable bag, recipe booklet and coupons for free sweet bread rolls! Mahalo for reading!
