LG’s Messy Recipe + giveaway!
When I first started blogging I wanted to be able to access my recipes from anywhere and I also wanted to keep track of the meals that the kids enjoyed. I’ve been blogging so long now that the kids know all the steps!
From creating the recipe, to prepping the ingredients and cooking in the kitchen, to the inevitable clean up at the end. In watching their meals being recorded day in and day out the boys have now taken in interest in wanting to make their own food. We talk about what they would make, how it would taste and the best way to cook it.
Since I cook a lot of Mexican food, the kids decided that they were going to take some of their favorite components and make a Mexican Casserole! They talked about what they wanted in the dish and while I helped with cooking the meat on the stovetop, the creation and assembly was all them! I try to always indulge the kid’s creativity when creating recipes but it can definitely be messy. There’s nothing like beef and melty cheese to make your oven cry out for a good cleaning!
Now LG’s EasyClean™ Double Oven Range brings you a new generation of oven cleaning with EasyClean, a quick and convenient way to clean your oven while still being able to use the conventional self-clean method. With EasyClean, just spray the oven interior with water, press the EasyClean button, then in just 20 minutes, wipe away any residual bits of grime*. No chemicals or high heat needed to keep your oven sparkling clean. You get a clean oven in minutes, not hours which means more family time and less time cleaning up in the kitchen! (*Heavy build-up may require additional manual effort or use of the full self-clean feature.)

LG’s Messy Recipe + giveaway!
Ingredients:
Mexican Casserole
1 pound ground beef
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
freshly ground pepper
4 cups tortilla chips
1 (14 oz) can refried beans
1/2 cup corn
4 ounces sliced olives
1-1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
In a pan over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chili powder, cumin, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper. Cook until no longer pink. Drain the grease and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a casserole dish lay out HALF of the chips (2 cups) slightly crushed.
Top the chips with the refried beans and the seasoned ground beef.
Spread the corn and the olives evenly over the top.
Add the rest of the chips (2 cups) and sprinkle with the shredded cheese.
Bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted. Serve.
Every time I make a pie, it’s messy and drips all over my oven because I like to overstuff that sucker. I always forget to put in on a cookie sheet for drips. By far my messiest pie is my gooseberry, blueberry, and plum pie.
My tweet https://twitter.com/sbonnin/status/337583120180211714
I have a mac n cheese recipe that makes just a little too much for my largest casserole dish. I always think that it won;t spill over but it does.
We make mini apple pies and IDK why no matter what my oven gets so messy
My lasagna…I think I need to use a deeper pan since the cheese seems to ooze over.
I always overfill my fruit pies (the latest was strawberry rhubarb), and end up with them bubbling over!
Bean and rice enchiladas! The sauce and cheese are so messy!
Every time we make homemade Hawaiian BBQ pizza, it always makes a big mess.

My husband does most of the cooking and he makes such a huge mess with Spaghetti! I am finding sauce all over the place afterwards!
Just using my broil feature when cooking my meats gets the meat juices splattering. Getting grease in my oven.
The recipe I face the worst mess with is probably my wife’s chicken pot pie loaf (just a REALLY big chicken pot pie).
I spend more time cleaning than eating.
It never fails that my berry or peach cobblers always overflow and drip down the sides of the baking dish, making
the worst sticky messes in my oven.

Blueberry pie always makes a mess in my oven!
I’m not sure what it’s called but I make a recipe with apples, sweet potatoes, cinnamon, and butter that is very messy.
My pecan pie always spills over the side and caramelizes/carbonizes into a blackened mess in no time!
I love roast chicken with crispy skin, but it always splatters grease all over my oven.

This is an amateur mistake but the messiest recipe I’ve made is just plain old toast. I accidentally set the timer on for too long almost burning the oven. Ooops.
Whenever I make fruit pies, they always overflow. And every Christmas we have lasagna and stuffed shells and they always overflow as well. Grr.
The first time i made a pecan pie-when i i was taking it out of the oven somehow I lost my grip and turned it upside down in the oven

With the kids helping to cook, it seems ALL my recipes leave the oven messy. But the exploding-baked-potato incident stands out in my mind, I must admit.
My husband is from Buffalo and he LOVES sponge candy – a type of honeycomb toffee. We live in California, so we always have his sister send him some for his birthday.
Last year, I decided to make him some myself. I bought a candy thermometer and found a recipe online. The recipe mentioned you had to be really careful when the candy hit 300 degrees – the hard crack stage. I thought I WAS bring careful…but then I added the baking soda.
Remember that volcano experiment in science class? That’s what my oven suddenly looked like.
Screaming, and making the biggest mess of my life, I had to frantically clean before the candy cooled and gave my oven a hard candy shell!
Two tries later, I got it right.
But I’ll be having his sister send a care package next year.

sweet potato chili! so messy.

I love baking sweet potatoes. They come out best when they’re on the rack, not a baking sheet…but then they always drip and char in the bottom of the oven.
the biggest mess i’ve made in the oven was probably from baking pies!
I tend to overfill my cake pans so I can level them to get a perfect two inch layer, but sometimes they run over nto the oven.
Bacon! I bake (delicious) thick-sliced bacon on parchment-lined cookie sheets in our oven every weekend. The bacon gets amazingly crispy, but grease splatters EVERYWHERE. I end up with a thick, sticky coating of bacon-y grease on the heating element, racks, and walls of the oven, but it’s so worth it. 🙂
Apple Pie always makes a huge mess in my oven. We just bought this house six months ago and I’m pretty sure the oven is older than my grandma! Would really like to win this!
My messiest recipe is Italian Rice Balls! Sauce, rice, egg whites, bread crumbs, grease, everywhere! But they are sooooooooooooooo good.
When I make my pumpkin bread, even if I skimp on the ingredients, it always explodes or overflows in the oven! Stinky, stinky oven.
I want this badly!!!
Chicken Pot Pie measurements are never exactly right and it definitely overflows sometimes!
My grandma’s apple pie recipe is delicious, but messy whenever I make it!
Big old pile of nachos
I just made my favorite Blueberry Buckle recipe last week, and the blueberry juices bubbled up over the baking pan. It created a sticky, burnt mess!

oooh – so many but my grandmother’s capirotada and enchiladas! yummy!
I love glazed salmon but only make it once in a blue moon because it is so, so messy!
No matter how hard I try, Lasagna gets everywhere

Pizza
The recipe that leaves my oven messy is my enchiladas! I stuff the baking dishes full and use lots of cheese and sauce which, even if I cover them, tends to bubble and slosh over the edge when I pull them out 🙂

It’s hard to beat a good old gooey apple pie, piled so high it HAS to overflow in the oven. 😉
For some reason, I always have caramel corn scorched on the bottom of my oven. It smells…lovely.

Caramel creme tarts with an almond crust! Easily the messiest thing I have made in a very long time. My tart crust separated and although I thought I got it back together, it was still an epic disaster of the smoke billowing out of the oven variety.

I love the look of your recipe, I’m crazy for anything with black olives.
In my house it’s the tomato sauce that makes the mess (but we just can’t stop, we love it); lasagna, bakes shells – that type of bubbly Italian thing.
and I posted a tweet: https://twitter.com/AnnaZed/status/343847842831544320
Lasagna, the spaghetti sauce and cheese always splatters all over the oven leaving a big mess for me to clean up.
It’s a toss up between overloaded marshmallowed Sweet Potato Casserole or Lasagna! I love overload!

My favorite recipe that leaves a mess for me and my oven is the meatball pasta bake. My kids love lots of sauce and lots of cheese…can’t you imagine how good and how messy it could be? 🙂 I totally can use this LG EasyClean oven’s help.

Since I’m realtively new to the baking scene, I haven’t had much in the way of mishaps, but I can tell you that making ice cream cupcakes can get really messy when they tip over!

Scalloped potatoes are our worst.
That looks delicious! I just love Mexican food! My favorite messy thing to make is broiled hamburgers. I usually make them when it is cold because I have no desire to grill in the snow. Unfortunately, my oven is a mess afterwards.

it’s Lasagna 🙂
Lasagna Bolognese.
Ribs in the oven leaves a mess.
Definitely when I make cherry or apple pies! What a mess!
I like a baked egg casserole for breakfast that really leaves my oven messy.
Lasagna is definitely the messiest but it seems like anything I put in the oven manages to leak all over.
