Maple Spiced Pork Chops
The Quebec Federation of Maple Syrup Producers are challenging people to “Think outside the Griddle” when it comes to maple syrup. I’m all for it, maple syrup isn’t just for pancakes, it’s versatility lends itself to many savory dinner recipes!
I’ll admit it, I’m a syrup snob. When I shop for ingredients for our morning breakfasts I never buy “pancake syrup,” only pure maple syrup with no artificial colorings or additives. You can really taste the difference.
This pork chop recipe is one of the kid’s favorites. Along with a blend of spices, the sweetness adds just the right amount of balance making for fragrant and flavorful pork chops. Baked in a casserole dish, it’s easily oven cooked and ready to serve to hungry kids.
ingredients:
4 – 6 (3/4 inch boneless) pork chops
olive oil
3 Tablespoons Maple Syrup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp pepper
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place the pork chops in a baking dish and rub them with olive oil.
In a small bowl combine the Maple Syrup, Worcestershire Sauce, garlic, kosher salt, cinnamon, cumin, allspice and pepper.
Brush the mixture onto the pork.
Bake for 45 minutes, depending on your oven. Using a meat thermometer, the pork should reach about 145 degrees when done.
Let the chops rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
A good way to repurpose leftovers is to dice up the pork chops with fresh apples and carrots to make lettuce wraps. There’s nothing better than two meals in one to make your week easier!
