Queen of Hearts cupcakes
My mom loves Alice in Wonderland so for her birthday I wanted to make her some themed cupcakes. While Alice would be the obvious go-to, there’s something special about the Queen of Hearts. Sure she’s evil but if you kawaii her up a bit she makes for a pretty cute cupcake. Really, wouldn’t we all want to rule the world with tiny chocolate crowns studded with tiny hearts?
ingredients:
cupcakes frosted with buttercream
yellow candy melts
micro heart sprinkles
black frosting
red heart sprinkles
To make the crowns, melt the yellow candy melts in the microwave according to directions. Pour into a piping bag fitted with a #5 tip.
On a piece of parchment pipe crown shapes 1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″.
Then using the micro heart sprinkles, decorate the tops of the crowns.
Place in the freezer for 10 minutes until solid.
Start with a frosted cupcake. Place the black frosting in a piping bag fitted with a #5 tip.
I went for a side swept bangs look for the Queen because I thought it looked good with the crown. Starting on the right hand side outline a small half moon, then sweep across the cupcake to the other side. Outline the outer edge of the cupcake as well. This is the outline of the hairdo.
Fill in the outline with black frosting.
Add two small dots for eyes, and a red heart sprinkle for the mouth.
Finally, take the chocolate crowns from the freezer and push them in between the frosting and the cupcake, right at the top of the head.
Presenting the adorable edible Queen of Hearts! These are splendid for an Alice in Wonderland party or any party where you want to feel like a Queen!
