Root Beer Tri Tip (crock pot)
I absolutely love Root Beer and cook and bake with it whenever I can. I use it so much I even have a root beer recipes category!
Root beer adds a lot of flavor to cooking, sweet with a hint of spice, it’s perfect for cooking meat. Using a crock pot makes this tri tip fall apart beautifully and it is the perfect mid-week meal. Start it up in the morning and by dinner you’re good to go.
Root Beer Tri Tip (crock pot)
Ingredients:
2-1/2 lbs tri tip
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
dash of cayenne
1 can root beer
Instructions:
Mix all the dry ingredients together and rub it on the tri tip. Place in the crock pot.
Pour in the root beer. Set the crock pot on low for 6-8 hours.
Slice or pull apart the trip tip and serve.
I’m not a huge fan of root beer but I very much like the looks of the finished dish, and that the dish is easy to make in a crockpot.
I have a need to have something smell good in the house next week, and I’m thinking this is it! There’s a hunk of meat in the freezer just asking for a spa day in the ol’ Crock Pot Of Fun. Thanks for the recipe 🙂
(I do child care in out home and have an interview. Nothing sells it like home cookin’!)
With colder weather on the horizon, I’m thinking I can convince my husband that we need to make this next week. As a bonus, I think we have a bottle of craft root beer leftover from when my teetotaler dad visited late last year. Yum!
I made this tonight and was super disappointed… Only cooked on low for 5 hours (not the recommended 6-8) and wished I had checked on it sooner, because it was a over-cooked log. Maybe had I checked on it sooner the flavors would have been better but it was just bland and tough. Oh well, you win some you loose some!
Just made this because I LOVE root beer…it is AMAZING. Added chicken broth, carrots, celery, potatoes, and onions. House smells amazing and my belly is happy! 🙂
I made this for my family. It ended up having a rich, heavy flavor that my dad loved. It gets soft and falls apart at 6 hours. Longer than that, the meat gets so soft it starts to turn into a soup.
