Sons Of Geekery: Custom Painted Shoes
If you follow my friend @geektrooper on his twitter feed, you’ll find a fan who loves Star Wars, comics and pop culture. Lately he’s been able to take his love of fandom and translate it into his talent for painting.
A few years ago when his son was born, he created an impressive nursery centered around a mural inspired by artist Skottie Young’s “Marvel Babies” variant covers for Marvel Now! He went into detail about how he painstakingly created the mural and while the step by steps make it seem easy, believe me it’s all about talent.
Now he’s taken his art to canvas, as in canvas shoes! On his etsy store Sons Of Geekery (great pun) you can see that even on a small scale, his work is amazingly detailed. From fandoms like Stars Wars to Adventure Time, he brings character to life with lots of color and movement. For such a small scale he does a great job at using space and creating a flow within the parameters that he’s given.
I was excited and surprised when he gifted me with my own pair of custom sneaks! When I say custom, I mean it – not only did he recreate my @justjenn twitter icon: Hello Kitty Wolverine, a character I created myself, but he also added on one of my life loves. That’s right, donuts.
The other shoe reveals even more custom work, as he recreated some of my greatest hits from my food blog, www.justjennrecipes.com. Shave Ice Cupcakes, Boba Fett Ice Cream Sandwiches, Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies and my most fave Disneyland treat, Dole Whip! I would say my favorite detail would be on the tongue of the shoe where he placed Hello Kitty’s bow with an X-Men symbol in the middle. That’s pretty much my House Sigil right there.
@geektrooper does incredible work and you can see all the love he puts into his pieces just by looking at the unique details. You can order custom work from him online at Sons Of Geekery on etsy or better yet, follow him at SonsOfGeekery on instagram or pinterest to see his amazing, unrivaled toy collection.
Thank you for any other informative website. Where else could I am getting that kind of info written in such an ideal method? I have a challenge that I am just now working on, and I’ve been on the look out for such information.
