Spice Cut Out Cookies
I love the smell of brown sugar and cinnamon, they seem to make every baked good better! A twist on regular old sugar cookies, these roll out nicely and have a warm sweet and spicy flavor.
ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon baking soda
salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 Tablespoons molasses
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep a baking sheet with silpats.
You can use any shape cutter you like, my kids went for the ‘transportation’ set that we had on hand.
In a bowl whisk together the flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and brown sugar.
Add the egg and the molasses, then add in the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge.
Roll it out on a flour dusted surface, and use a cookie cutter to cut your cookies and transfer to the prepped baking sheets.
Bake for 10-11 minutes, depending on your oven and let cool on a wire rack.
