Techmunch LA – the panels

I love blogging conferences, no matter if you’re a noob or have been blogging for years there’s always something interesting and new to learn. This year Techmunch was in LA and sponsored by Disney!

Along with a fabulous stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel there was a spectacular display of food and Disney treats! The focus of the event was the informative Techmunch panels that covered everything from marketing to photography to cookbook pitches! The day was broken up into morning and afternoon sessions with a break in between for a phenomenal Disney inspired lunch called: A Taste of Disneyland. (recap here)

One of my favorite panels of the day was How to Build Your Business: Branding, PR & Marketing Lessons from the Pros, moderated by Erik Deutsch and featuring panelists Tess Masters (theblendergirl.com), Gaby Dalkin (whatsgabycooking.com), Manouschka Guerrier (singleservingbytes.com). Each speaker gave their own varied point of view on how they used PR and marketing to form their brand.

“Blogging can help you achieve your goals and market your brand.” “Social media is about celebrating others.” “Authentically work with brands and add value to your agenda.” These words rang true as the panelist spoke about their experiences. Branding is a huge part of blogging success and hearing how these bloggers achieved their goals was inspiring.

What’s Your Niche was another panel that I found particularly relevant and informative. Rene Lynch of The LA Times moderated panelists Catherine McCord (Weelicious.com), Carolyn Scott-Hamilton (HealthyVoyager.com), Jackie Dodd (thebeeroness.com), Aida Mollenkamp (Yahoo’s In the Pantry).

The panelists spoke about building your brand and adding personality as an important way to stay true to the voice that you’re writing in. Finding something that you’re an expert in and forming that down to one “elevator pitch” is essential in our 140 character world.

There were so many other great Techmunch panels, what they all came down to was finding inspiration to harness your creativity and using your passion to express yourself and achieve your goals. It was a wonderful conference and I can’t wait to do it again!
