tiny Peanut Butter and Jelly hearts

As a kid, every Valentine’s Day My Grandpa would ‘surprise’ me with a perfectly wrapped heart shaped box of chocolates. It made me always try to appreciate how little gestures can brighten up a day.

Smaller than a Lego minifig, these tiny sandwiches make for an sweet surprise afternoon snack.

Ingredients:

King’s Hawaiian sweet bread
peanut butter
jelly

Instructions:

Using a small heart cookie cutter, cut out shapes from soft bread. I always like use King’s Hawaiian sweet bread. It’s nice and soft and compliments the salty peanut butter and sweet jelly.

These hearts are pretty tiny so I used a small offset spatula to get the peanut butter and jelly on there, just so.

Add another heart on top and you have beautiful tiny treats to sweeten up your Valentine’s Day!

The shapes are beautiful and they must be really delicious. They say the way to a man’s heart goes through his stomach. And Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to put this statement into practice. 😀 And it’s funny but what immediately came to my mind was the gift I’m gonna give to my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. I’ve made a private booking for one of the courses organized by Zac’s cooking school here in Vancouver – cooking classes for couples and this recipe will most certainly be among the first ones we’ll try together. So it fits in perfectly with my romantic plans. 🙂
