To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Is On Netflix!
This is an exciting month for Asian-American media, Crazy Rich Asians is out in theaters and author Jenny Han’s “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” is finally on Netflix!
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is YA full of heart and food, at least that’s what I always focus on, the food. Oh yeah there’s a love story or two as well. A story about sixteen-year-old Korean-American Lara Jean’s life with her sisters and her dad, and her habit of writing (and not sending) love letters to her crushes. Until those letters get sent, then the craziness begins.
Chapters are full of references to food, whether it’s drinking Korean yogurt drinks, rice balls, or homemade bo ssam which doesn’t turn out as planned. I loved the book and when I heard Netflix was going to take it on, I couldn’t wait to see it come to life. I definitely needed to settle in and celebrate accordingly. Lara Jean’s favorite food is cake, and I do love a good cake. So what better way to binge-watch on the couch than with a good ol’ piece of cake.
I didn’t want to make a fancy frosted cake, or an over-elaborate dessert. This is a plain, fast, delicious, mouth-watering, irresistable piece of heaven. This chocolate mochi cake is quick to make and has a mochi-like chew that is satisfying to the very end. Deceptively simple, you won’t be able to stop thinking about it. Oh and it’s perfect for sitting on the couch and eating off of a napkin, no utensils needed. This cake was made for Netflix-ing.
